Over de stad
Ostrów Wielkopolski leży na Wysoczyźnie Kaliskiej, nad Ołobokiem, w południowo-wschodniej części historycznej Wielkopolski. Na rynku stoi ratusz zaprojektowany w 1828 roku przez Johanna Heinricha Häberlina. Kościół NMP Królowej Polski wzniesiono w latach 1777–1778 jako drewnianą konstrukcję szachulcową; jest to najstarszy zachowany w całości obiekt w mieście. W listopadzie 1918 roku bezkrwawy przewrót, określany jako Republika Ostrowska, doprowadził do przejęcia władzy w mieście przez Polaków.
